Making the best use of evidence in outcome agreements

Perth, 25th September 2005

About this event

This event was for staff involved in developing outcome agreements, particularly monitoring and evaluation officers. It focused on exploring how to make sure that regeneration activity is underpinned by robust data, to assess needs and measure progress.

It provided an excellent opportunity to share ideas, learn from each others’ experience and showcase examples of best practice.

Participants rated the event highly. Examples of things participants found most useful were:

“Networking is crucial and getting new ideas for data gathering was useful.”

“Methods of collecting information from different sources and sharing information.”

“The scale of the event was just right.”

“Was useful and not overbearing/too long.”

An SCR Practice Event

We have another event focusing on using evidence in regeneration on 23rd October 2007. This event will focus specifically on how to collect and analyse evidence as a foundation for planning regeneration action and services. It will showcase four different approaches to collecting and using evidence. Book online.

Research into Evidence in Regeneration Outcome Agreements

Communities Scotland recently published research into how ROAs make use of quantitative and qualitative data. Read the summary of key findings.

We also published research into the wider experience of developing and implementing ROAs. Find out more.

The Regeneration Outcomes How To Guide

This online guide provides advice about the process of developing an outcome agreement, and monitoring progress. The sections on How To Develop the Strategy and How To Track Progress give some tips about using evidence to assess the impact of your activities.

Engaging Communities

To get practical advice about how to gather qualitative evidence about the needs and experiences of communities, have a look at our Community Engagement How To Guide, which has lots of useful techniques.

Find Out What Works

Our bank of Profiles of regeneration activity highlights other organisation’s experiences in regeneration. For example, find out more about Fife’s Tracking Study into Health and Wellbeing – a long term project to gather evidence on the needs and experiences of local communities.
