Housing investment: affordable housing investment programme
In the new financial year, April 2007–March 2008 we will be spending a record £584 million on housing across Scotland.
The programme, announced by the then Communities Minister Rhona Brankin, will see 8,000 new and improved homes across Scotland.
The programme for 2007/08 consists mainly of grants to housing associations (registered social landlords), private developers and individuals to build or improve homes for rent and low cost home ownership.
The affordable housing investment programme brings together the development programme, the community ownership programme, the housing estate regeneration fund and Mortgage to Rent.
Grants administered under the Affordable Housing Investment Programme include:
Housing Association Grant to registered social landlords
On 13 February 2008 the consultation document, Better Value from Housing Association Grant: Changes to Grant from 2008/09, and accompanying letter, was issued to key stakeholders. Closing date for responses is 25 March 2008.
GRO Grants for Owner Occupation
Social and Environmental Grants
In addition to grant funding, private finance is obtained by grant recipients to fund developments.
The affordable housing investment programme is delivered by our area office network, with the exception of Mortgage to Rent which is managed centrally by the Housing Investment Department.
